Sailing the Mayflower project

As part of our Sailing the Mayflower project, we are holding an online competition and awards ceremony to celebrate the contribution of migrants and refugees in communities in South East London and across the UK. We aim to bring young people from different backgrounds together to enhance cultural awareness and community cohesion.

I would like to invite your contacts that share an interest on issues related to migration to submit a piece of work by end September and to attend the Youth Awards 2020 ceremony on 28th October at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, where we will be awarding prizes to the winners and discussing key themes of immigration and community, based on the submissions. If large gatherings are still not permitted due to the Covid-19 situation we will be holding a virtual awards ceremony online.

The competition is open to all ages and abilities!

Prizes include iPads, tablets, £50 gift vouchers, and free trips to London Zoo, Kew Gardens and more!

Submissions can be made into one of the following categories; Art, Writing, Community projects and Music, Dance and Drama. They could be absolutely anything! We have had submissions ranging from finger paintings to poems, to rap freestyles!
